Half Moon
In the words of my students, "When this music plays, it feels like everything stops." That is the essence of "Half Moon." Despite being calm, static, and almost devoid of movement, the piece feels light, ethereal, distant, and brilliantly simple. It describes the moment the moon is seen from space—without artifice or filters. Pure beauty.
Written using crotchets (quarter notes) and minims (half notes) across three strings of the violin (leaving out the G string), this piece in 3/4 time features delicate broken thirds that seek nothing more than pure simplicity. Close your eyes and let the backing track transport you far away from here.
